Nutritional Biomarkers of Aging

The process of aging is determined by a complex interaction of endogenous factors such as genes combined with influencing exogenous factors such as nutrition and lifestyle. The progressive accumulation of damage caused by reactive species is often called oxidative stress and is associated with age-related diseases and aging. Defense mechanisms against oxidative stress involve the antioxidative network in which nutritional factors could intervene in a regulatory manner.
