Artificial intelligence identified peptides modulate inflammation in healthy adults
Dietary bioactive peptides have been, among many functionalities, associated with immune modulation and thereby may improve resolution of inflammation. The goals of this research were to assess (1) whether specific peptides with immune-modulating activity consumed as part of a rice protein hydrolysate could be absorbed into blood and (2) whether they modulate inflammation markers. Artificial intelligence algorithms were applied to target, predict and unlock inflammation-modulating peptides from rice protein.

To overcome the limited oral bioavailability and the absorption variability in humans of CBD, a novel self-emulsifying drug delivery system (SEDDS) based on VESIsorb® formulation technology incorporating CBD, as Hemp-Extract, was developed (SEDDS-CBD). The study objective was to evaluate the pharmacokinetic profile of SEDDS-CBD in a randomized, double-blind, cross-over design in 16 healthy volunteers under fasted conditions.

Milk proteins have been hypothesized to protect against type 2 diabetes (T2DM) by beneficially modulating glycemic response, predominantly in the postprandial status. In the present study, the impact of a milk protein hydrolysate of native whey origin with alpha-glucosidase inhibiting properties was determined in prediabetics in a randomized, cross-over trial.

The use of curcumin as dietary supplement to ameliorate inflammation, arthritis, stomach, skin, liver, and gallbladder problems, is hampered by the lack of oral absorption. In this study, an in vitro digestion method and Caco-2 cell-lines were used to assess the influence of the solubilisation of curcuminoids in a liquid formulation comprising a high content of phosphatidylcholine on the transport of the curcuminoids across a Caco-2 cell monolayer, compared to powdered curcuminoids.

Majority of men are affected by symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) from a certain age. Botanical extracts are frequently used in the early management of the symptoms. In a single-arm, mono-center pilot study, the effects of a proprietary oil-free hydroethanolic pumpkin seed extract on the symptoms of BPH were investigated.
