Physiological endpoints

SERVICE packages with defined physiological endpoints

The efficacy or activity of a product or raw material essentially determines its market success. To substantiate this, Biotesys offers in vitro detection methods that demonstrate the effect with scientific endpoints.

We would be happy to put together a modular work package for you. We can develop or customize detection methods on request.

Methods are established for the following areas:

Cell-free endpoints, including:

  • Bioavailability testing using PAMPA
  • Enzyme activity (e.g. FAAH inhibitor screening, COX inhibitor screening, cAMP-PDE activity, MAO-B inhibitor screening)
  • Mucoadhesive effect
  • Determination of the physical compatibility of contact lens care products and eye drops with contact lenses in accordance with ISO 11981

Cell-based endpoints, including:

  • Bioavailability testing with CaCo models or organotypic cell models
  • Differentiation-promoting/inhibiting effect
  • Proliferative effect
  • Antioxidant effect
  • Anti-inflammatory effect
  • Cytoprotective effect
  • Angiogenesis-related effect (e.g. tube formation assay)
  • Effect on (energy) metabolism (e.g. GLP-1 release, AMPK activation, glucose uptake, cAMP assay, calcium influx)
  • Receptor binding studies (e.g. agonistic or antagonistic effect on oestrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and beta (ERβ), farnesoid X receptor (FXR) [mouse], TRPV receptor binding, 5-HT1A receptor binding)
